Hi, my name is Kayla. This is my first music appreciation blog ever! In my music class we listen to all kinds of music. So far we have listened to, Late 20th Century Popular Music 1950s-Present, Early 20th Century Jazz, etc.
Romantic/Impressionistic/Nationalistic 1825-1900, Classical Period 1750-1825, Baroque Period 1600-1750.
All of the genres are interesting in their own ways. After listening to all of these types and eras of music I have learned that I actually do like some types of older musics. I also dislike some. I'm not much for classical music, but I did enjoy the Classical Period from 1750-1825. I find this type of music very relaxing. It's like whenever you hear it, it makes you want to just lay down and close your eyes. It puts you in a very peaceful state. I really like how the Classical music takes different instruments to create a very thin or thick texture. The instruments that are involved are.... trumpets, string instruments, saxophones, and tuba.
Whenever there is a melody, it is usually very soft and it blends well with the music. The instruments create the harmony, which can be very busy or very simple depending on which song it is. The texture of classical music like I said before can vary. I really like how all the instruments combine together to create such a complex sound. Classical music has a very pretty sound to it. Before hearing classical music in this class I would of probably never enjoyed or even listened to classical music. But I'm glad I got to hear it in this class and learn about it. Because I really enjoy it!
Here is an example of classical music....
